Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well, the blog is back to some form of normality after changing web hosts!! You may notice you got an email for this posting. Since I changed web hosts, I had to re-subscribe some people. If you are getting this and don't want to, just drop me a line or you can unsubscribe easily from the link in the email (I think). Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone!! Particularly those family and friends a long way away, we are missing you all and could do with a few 30C days right now. It's been a very busy year, but rewarding of course now that we have another member in the family. I won't get into a cheesy yearly recap or anything. Maybe I'll write a very quick summary sometime soon. Suffice it to say the year was fun, busy, challenging and full of changes and learning. Thanks to all our friends and family both near and far and we hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year. Thanks also to Jo and Travis and Brett and Nerida for visiting us recently and spending some time in cold Chicago. I have put some pictures up of recent events and the first half of Christmas on flickr, so you should be able to have a look there! Cheers, Brett

Goodbye George and Mildred!

Well, it is with sadness that we have to say goodbye to Mum and Dad! They are now in San Fran for a few days before heading to Tokyo for a few days and then home. It was a great two weeks and we did many many things. In fact, to write about it all would take a while, so for now I will just add some highlights and pictures. As usual, there are a bunch more pics on flickr for people to check out. So, highlights (I might miss some accidentally so I will write more later perhaps):
  • Airport Arrival
  • Mum and Dad Meeting Amelia - Got on famously immediately
  • Mum and Dad seeing the general area, Libertyville, our House etc
  • Kath and Kim Viewing (Australian TV Show)
  • Marathon Risk games
  • Mum's Cooking
  • Cubs Game with a lot of Home Runs and General Craziness this late in the season
  • Boating on Fox Lake and particularly, viewing the 'Hooter Awareness Meter' in front of 1 house
  • 'Little Fire' on the deck at home
  • MB learning 'Stick it in your family album' and the appropriate tune!
  • Dad shopping at a mall and telling a rather persistent salesman "hold on mate, you're not trying to sell a sheep station"!
  • Mum teaching Amelia the Horsie Song. She will remember!
  • Mum and Dad meeting MB's extended family and getting some good 'ol Polish food at a later lunch
  • Dad wearing a 'Boony Army' Hat at the Beer Festival so we could find him
  • Dad not finding a beer he liked at the Beer Festival despite 100+ beers - Where are Green Death, VB or West End when you need them??:)
  • Missing the Ohare Exit, getting stuck in a gridlock, doing 60mph in 2nd gear as we raced to the domestic terminal, and Mum and Dad just getting to gate as they are 'last called' over the PA!

Watch out America, George and Mildred are Coming!!!

Well, finally after a few hiccups regarding organisation, my oldies are coming!! They've been to Kakadu, Darwin, Rubyvale, Bendigo, the middle of nowhere, and now their trekking brings them to little old Libertyville in the good 'ol  US of A!! Back in the day, one of my good friends (Thommo) started calling mum and dad 'George and Mildred', after a riveting British sitcom from the 70's that you can read about here because Dad is a spitting image of George (not quite!). So, here's a picture in case  anyone sees them wandering aimlessly around Chicago (or Tokyo for that matter) slightly lost or something:

See you tomorrow morning Mum and Dad. Can't wait!!

The Sol Man…

OK, Finally my very slack brother has managed to get us some recent pics of Sol (my nephew!!). He's a Stark so naturally he is funny and cute!:) So, i have thrown them up on flickr and posted some highlights here. More at flickr. Happy Birthday for your recent birthday Sol!!! Hopefully through some miracle commonly known as 'emailing pictures', we might see more from Andy and Chelsea.
